We strive for successful adoptions—we want pets and people to achieve the perfect match. Additionally, we take responsibility for ensuring each animal we save will live in a safe and healthful environment and that adopters understand the commitment they are making and will be able to comfortably provide for a pet’s care.
Therefore, in addition to submitting an online adoption application, we will conduct a preliminary phone interview (which also acts as an informative question-and-answer discussion for interested adopters); confirm that all existing pets (if any) are up to date on medical care; and confirm that pets are permitted if a landlord is involved. Finally, we do reserve the right to require an in-home interview.
The adoption fee is intended to cover the cost of preventive medical care (such as vaccines) the animal has been provided during the time we have fostered it, as well as future preventive care as agreed in the written adoption contract (for example, kittens must weigh a minimum of four pounds to be safely spayed or neutered; therefore, that procedure may be scheduled to occur AFTER the adoption date, in which case we will coordinate the appointment with the adopter). We will disclose to potential adopters any known health or behavioral issues, but we understandably cannot guarantee an adopted pet will remain illness free.
Should the adopter encounter a situation, at any time in the future, for any reason, in which it can no longer keep a pet adopted from us, the adopter agrees to notify our rescue immediately and be cooperative with arrangements to return the pet to our care. Animals adopted through our rescue may NOT be given to a third party (such as a friend or relative) or signed over to a shelter or other rescue without our advance permission.
Unless otherwise agreed between the adopter and our rescue, adoption fees are nonrefundable.
